Introducing the next act of Intermission Magazine
It’s not an easy time for arts journalism.
With every passing year the space for arts coverage in legacy media is shrinking. But art can’t breathe in a vacuum: insightful, informed context is essential to the artsgoing experience.
At Intermission Magazine we provide this context and deliver fresh new perspectives on Canadian theatre. Where else will you find first-person essays from the most exciting voices in this industry, alongside rigorously curated and edited reviews and interviews?
Today, we’re launching some exciting new features and initiatives at Intermission, starting with a gorgeous new website by Mouth Media.
Intermission’s on a roll — you may have noticed recent partnerships with Canadian Stage, the Great Canadian Theatre Company, the Stratford Festival, and Theatre Aquarius, to name just a few of our industry collaborators — but we can’t do it alone. We’re here to ask for your help in sustaining our work and growth at a vital point in the publication’s development.
But before you whip out your cheque books, allow us to share more of the work going on at Intermission.
In the last few months we’ve welcomed two new members to the Intermission team: Liam Donovan, who serves as our editorial and publishing assistant, and Nathaniel Hanula-James, who joined us as a staff writer and recently launched his column “Speaking in Draft.” Liam and Nathaniel joined our existing team of Suzanne Cheriton (publisher), Karen Fricker (editorial advisor), Janice Peters Gibson (digital manager and co-founder), and Aisling Murphy (senior editor).
In addition to our great new team members and sleek new look, in the coming weeks we’ll launch the Friday Folio, a specially curated newsletter featuring reviews, interviews, and subscriber-exclusive perks, including ticket giveaways and more.
